The Climate Governance Initiative has launched an updated and expanded online course for board directors, now titled “Climate and Nature in the Boardroom“. This free, interactive, 30-minute programme provides a concise introduction to climate change and the associated business risks and opportunities.
Building on the success of the original course (titled “Climate in the Boardroom” and launched in March 2024), “Climate and Nature in the Boardroom” has been significantly enhanced to reflect the growing interconnectedness of climate change and biodiversity loss. It provides a practical framework for directors to integrate climate and nature considerations into their strategic decision-making processes. The curriculum covers key topics such as:
- Understanding the latest climate science and nature-related risks;
- Integrating climate and nature into corporate governance frameworks;
- Identifying and managing climate and nature-related financial risks and opportunities;
- Developing effective climate and nature transition plans;
- Enhancing stakeholder engagement and transparency.
In a significant step towards global accessibility, the Climate Governance Initiative is also pleased to announce the launch of a Spanish translation of the course, titled “El Cambio Climático y la Naturaleza en el Consejo de Administración”. The ready availability of this translated version aims to break down language barriers and empower directors in Spanish-speaking regions to play a pivotal role in driving climate and nature action within their organisations.
“We recognize the urgent need to equip board directors worldwide with the knowledge and tools to address the climate and nature crises. By expanding the scope of our course, offering it in multiple languages, and ensuring it’s accessible in under 30 minutes, we are taking a crucial step towards fostering global corporate leadership on these critical issues.”
Emily Farnworth, Executive Director, Climate Governance Initiative.
Furthermore, leveraging its extensive global network, the Climate Governance Initiative is actively working on translations of “Climate and Nature in the Boardroom” into additional languages. These upcoming translations will further broaden the course’s reach and impact, ensuring that directors around the world can access vital climate and nature governance education.
“Climate and Nature in the Boardroom” is available to access in both English and Spanish via the Climate Governance Hub online resource: https://learn.climate-governance.org/en/climate-in-the-boardroom.
- The Climate Governance Initiative would like to thank the staff of Chapter Zero México and Chapter Zero Spain for their translation services in the production of “El Cambio Climático y la Naturaleza en el Consejo de Administración”
